    Ok but not best in class

    So on my recent thru hike of the Hume and Hovell track carried this filter paired with the CNOC bag.
    Pros:
    I loved the flow rate out of the box, it was fast.
    Cons:
    It would not seal well at the thread and would heavily leak dirty water from the filter/bag connection.
    Not real ability to back-flush effectively to remove sediment buildup.
    The 42mm tread makes it bulky.

    Look overall it does what it says on the box, but when hiking big days, day after day. The last thing I want are small annoyances which this did for me.
    I'm not say other filters haven't (Sawyer mini and macro), but this filter I noticed a big performance drop off in what was clear flowing water, the fibres browned and slowed to about half the rate after about 10 days.

    For me the best fibre filter out there is the full sized (original) Sawyer filter, the flow rate is good and being fully encased the back-flushing is very effective and then helps to keep your filter alive.

    Cheap, Easy and Fast Service

    Bought as a spare for my existing Katadyn and as a replacement after I found another BeFree bottle and filter in the backcountry that had a well used filter.
    Good kit, a 1000 litres of filtration should last 300 to 500 days and flow is good. Great for hunting as I put empty bottle in bumbag and fill as I go.
    Of note I paid $65 delivered from Oz to NZ where the cheapest I could find here was $95 plus $8 shipping.
