Got a bunch of half full fuel canisters and don't know what to do with them? Now you can easily consolidate the fuel into one canister & recycle the empties.

FlipFuel® is a device that transfers leftover fuel from one partially filled canister to another.

What kind of fuel can I transfer with FlipFuel?

FlipFuel was designed to transfer fuel for backpacking canisters. These canisters are small, lightweight, and threaded the same. Only transfer like fuel from one canister to another. The FlipFuel fuel transfer device supports isobutane fuel canisters, including MSR, Jetboil, Snow Peak, and more.

HOW TO USE FLIPFUEL

STEP 1

Place receiving canister in the freezer, ice chest, or a cool shaded area. Place sending canister in the sun.

STEP 2

Wait 5 to 10 minutes. This allows the fuel canisters to create a temperature differential that facilitates the transfer.

STEP 3

Thread canisters onto FlipFuel® device. Sending canister on top ("OUT") side, receiving canister on bottom ("IN") side. Hand tighten.

STEP 4

Open valve to transfer fuel. Once fuel transfer is complete, close valve and detach isobutane fuel canisters.

Great gadget to refill hiking butane cylinders from larger ones.

I found the flip fuel super easy to use and it is well on its way to paying for itself as the big cylinders are must more economical to buy per gram of gas.

Just put the receiving cylinder in the freezer, the donor in the sun or somewhere warm, connect them with the donor on top and open the valve, off it goes. You do need to careful not to overfill the receiving cylinder but a scale is all you need. In a short amount of time I refilled 3 x 100 gm cylinders. The correct “full” weights for the different brands are not hard to find online. If you overfill a bit just reverse the process.

FlipFuel Gas Transfer Device - OK if you have the time

A handy device in a pinch, but the dick around with leaving one fuel cartridge in the sun and the other in a relatively cool place can be frustrating and inefficient, especially when there is little fuel remaining in the 'emptying' cartridge. Luckily this device is more of an occasional tool and good in an emergency.
