WHY USE TITANIUM COOKWARE?
THE BENEFITS OF TITANIUM COOKWARE
A lighter pack translates to less stress on your legs, knees and feet, and more importantly, the ability to hike longer days and more kms. You might be thinking that a lighter pack makes a lot of sense if you were doing a long distance hike but it is equally important when you set out for a weekend or few days in the bush.
With the shift to ultralight only starting to take hold in Australia, I've seen many weekend hikers still carrying huge packs and heavy loads, complaining about how horrible backpacking is and possibly putting them off for life. The advancements in technology over the last few years have enabled big improvements to outdoor gear to help with weight reductions.
When heading out on an overnight or multi-night adventure many of us find ourselves enjoying a hot meal after a long day hiking. There are a lot of options around, everything from aluminum, stainless and even titanium.
When looking into backpacking gear it's important we focus not only on weight but also the durability of our gear. Having a piece of equipment fail while out on the trail can be extremely frustrating but titanium is one of the lightest and most durable materials on the market.
1. Doesn’t corrode
This means it will never rust no matter how long it’s been exposed to water. This makes titanium perfect for any purpose that involves being exposed to the elements for any extended periods of time.
2. Extremely light
Titanium is 45% lighter than steel and stronger than aluminum. It is the lightest cookware material you can buy before you must sacrifice on strength.
3. Stronger than steel
When TOAKS says Type 1 or Type 2 titanium, what they are referring to is the “civilian” level of titanium. Titanium comes in 5 types, type 1 and 2 provide the best combination of strength weight and corrosion resistance for cooking.
4. Biologically inert
This basically means titanium won’t react with your body in any way. So even if you eat titanium, it will not poison or hurt you in any way. In fact, titanium is what they use when they place plates or screws into your body during surgery.
TOAKS TITANIUM COOKWARE is extremely well designed, lighter than other options, safe to eat out of and simply more durable than most other options on the market. While titanium cookware is expensive, it is an investment which will easily last a lifetime.
